We are very happy to take this moment to inform you that this year, Women Active Engineers for Inclusive Development, “FIADI for short”, will join the world to celebrate International Women in Engineering Day, 2024 Edition.
We will meet female engineers who have held key political positions in the country to share their stories and thus inspire young girls to pursue a career in engineering and encourage those who are already practicing the engineering profession.
Indeed, Women Active Engineers for Inclusive Development “FIADI for short” which is a non-profit association born in March 2018 and approved by Burundian law (of Burundi) on October 30, 2018 and created by women Engineers from different backgrounds . fields of applied sciences following the prejudices and stereotypes of Burundian society according to which women are still perceived as incapable in male-dominated professions.
Our overall objective is to encourage Burundian women and girls not to self-censor and not to doubt their abilities thanks to the innovative and entrepreneurial actions of already successful female engineers.
We launched IWED in Burundi (East African country) in 2019.
