At GCHQ, we need the right mix of minds to meet the technology challenges of the future and keep the UK safe. That’s a key reason why we’re passionate about attracting more women into our technology roles, more girls into STEM careers, and making our work environment as fulfilling and rewarding as we can for the fantastic women technologists we have in our organisation.
Since 2018, we have been celebrating INWED every year, as one way to ensure we keep recognising the importance of these goals and stepping towards them. Each year we organise a wide range of events – including women technologist speakers and panels, school visits to our premises, internal INWED awards (our categories this year are Early Career Achievement, Allyship, and Outstanding Achievement), and workshops to help women develop and be recognised for key technical skills. We do all this with a small team of staff volunteers, and the support and encouragement of our seniors across the technology areas of GCHQ.
